In that time, we’ve heard just about every question you can imagine. Let’s take a closer look at some of the questions we are most frequently asked, along with their answers. Of course, you should feel free to reach out to us if the question you’re curious about isn’t on this list!
Baja Fresh kitchens don’t cut any corners. While other franchise brands might not require their franchisees to prepare fresh ingredients daily, Baja Fresh goes the extra mile when it comes to high-quality food prep. If you have a background in food service, you’ll likely find that your experience is helpful to you when it comes to learning the ropes of managing one of our kitchens. However, food service experience isn’t a must.
Rather, it’s important that our franchisees be passionate about starting and growing their own business. They need to be dedicated to our “Eat Well. Live Fresh.” philosophy, and enjoy enthusiasm for building a business that stands for more than just mass producing quick and easy meals.
To this end, driven self-starters who are extremely motivated and work tirelessly to find solutions to problems and ensure smooth operations are the type of people who can thrive as a Baja Fresh franchisee.
Financing is a great option for many of our franchisees, and we encourage you to explore options such as Small Business Administration loans! Baja Fresh does not provide financing directly to our franchisees, but we have relationships with third-party lenders who may be able to help you find the right option for you.
Since launching our business nearly three decades ago, we’ve developed a comprehensive idea of what our franchisees need in order to grow their businesses. This is why we’ve established a wide range of training and support resources and programs for our franchisees.
Our comprehensive training program combines on-site and hands-on training methods in your Baja Fresh franchise location in order to show you exactly how to operate one of our restaurants, from food prep to bookkeeping.
One pillar of the franchisee support services we offer is marketing assistance, especially early in the process, as we help spread the word about your new restaurant in your community.
The biggest takeaway: When you invest in a Baja Fresh franchise, you don’t need to worry about going it alone. We strive to be there to work with you every step of the way as you establish your new business.

The total cost of your investment in a Baja Fresh franchise can vary depending on a number of factors, including the type of location you’d like to open, the size of the location, and operating costs in your area. Keeping these variables in mind, you can expect to invest between $320,560 - $1,112,640 in your Single Restaurant Baja Fresh Franchise. Keep in mind that your investment will cover just about everything you’ll need to get your restaurant up and running, including inventory, build-out expenses, and more.

It’s important that our franchisees have a certain amount of liquid capital on-hand in order to manage their franchise investment. While franchisees can count non-liquid assets toward their net worth, we ask that they have $250,000 in liquid capital at their disposal.
The comprehensive training you’ll receive as a Baja Fresh franchisee truly sets us apart from our competition. You’ll spend time at our headquarters in Scottsdale, Arizona taking part in a classroom training that’s designed to teach you the necessary skills to operate one of our restaurants. You’ll also spend time in a fully-operational Baja Fresh restaurant, putting the skills you’ve learned into practice. We’ll even join you right at your own location, helping you apply everything you learned to your own restaurant.
Like other franchisors, Baja Fresh does charge ongoing fees in consideration of the services and support you receive as a franchisee. We’ve worked hard to develop a franchise program that allows you to grow your business as easily as possible, and the initial and ongoing fees you pay help us to keep supporting you. Ask us about reviewing our franchise disclosure document (FDD) to learn more about Baja Fresh franchise fees.
Baja Fresh is looking for franchisees who have a background in business, customer service, and/or management. We believe that you’ll be able to apply these skills to running your business, making you an excellent fit for our franchise. Baja Fresh restaurants come with full kitchens designed to prepare a wide variety of Baja-inspired Mexican cuisine. Furthermore, our franchisees need to serve many hungry diners at a time, all of whom have different preferences and favorites. The scope of our restaurants set us apart from the competition, who may only offer a few select menu items that have often been frozen or prepared in advance. For this reason, it is helpful for our franchisees to have previous experience in the restaurant industry. However, we’ve developed a comprehensive training program that’s designed to prepare franchisees of all backgrounds to run one of our restaurants. If you don’t have experience in restaurants, you may possess other valuable skills that would make you a good fit for running a Baja Fresh franchise. Contact us today to tell us more about your background!
In today’s market, Mexican food has become increasingly popular. American consumers love the wide variety of flavors and ingredients to be enjoyed. Baja Fresh stands out from other Mexican fast food franchises for a number of reasons, not the least of which is our dedication to freshness.
Other Mexican restaurants are known for greasy, fried menu items prepared from frozen ingredients and smothered in artificial cheese. Baja Fresh offers a wide-ranging menu of authentic Baja-inspired Mexican favorites including our famous Baja Burrito, Baja Bowls, tacos, taquitos, quesadillas, fajitas, nachos, tortilla soup, salsas, guacamole, queso dip, fresh chopped salads, and delicious churros and salads all made fresh right in our kitchen.
Many of these items are healthy, and they’re all made from top-quality ingredients. Our commitment to serving fresh and healthy food sets us apart from the competition – not to mention the strong support we offer our franchisees.
